Niagara Region Standardized Patient/Client Program
The Niagara Region Standardized Patient Program (SPP) supports the learning objectives of Healthcare and Community Studies for three learning institutions:
- Niagara College (Welland Campus)
- Brock University (Nursing)
- McMaster University (Niagara region campus)
The program will send standardized patients (SPs) to these institutional campuses or to nearby participating sites such as hospitals. A reliable source of transportation is essential for this work.
The program is involved in the training of numerous professions, including medicine, nursing, paramedicine, personal support work, dental care, occupational therapy, policing and early childhood education. An SP may be involved in the training of any or all of these professions.
An SP will be trained in role play techniques as well as feedback protocol. An SP may also be involved in physical examinations.
If you are interested in becoming an SP in the Niagara area, please contact us at http://simulation.mcmaster.ca/interested_in_becoming_an_sp.html
If you would like to discuss the possibilities of including SPs into your teaching, please fill out a resource booking form.
