Rooms
The Centre for Simulation-Based Learning (CSBL) has 2 locations on the first floor of the McMaster University Medical Centre.
CSBL-1G
CSBL-1G is located in the red section beside Health Sciences Campus Store (HSC-1G). This facility houses a circuit of 12 fully-equipped examination rooms for clinical learning and assessment.
CSBL-1G has the following clinical teaching rooms:
- 3 examination rooms with a single examination table
- 7 rooms with a single hospital bed
- 1 room with two hospital beds
- 1 home environment room with a home bed, couch, chair, dining table, modified kitchenette, washroom with roll-in shower, grab bars, etc.
Each clinical teaching room is equipped with a computer and wall-mounted monitor, LearningSpace (an audio/visual system), and is large enough to accommodate an instructor, a standardized patient, and approximately 8 - 12 students.
CSBL-1M
CSBL-1M is located in the blue section between Anatomy and Nuclear Medicine (HSC-1M). This facility houses a circuit of 9 fully-equipped examination rooms for clinical learning and assessment.
CSBL-1M has the following clinical teaching rooms:
- 4 examination rooms with a single examination table
- 4 rooms with a single hospital bed
- 1 large procedural skills room – equipment tables for partial task trainers and a gurney
- Traditional one-way mirrored viewing sets
Each clinical teaching room is equipped with a computer and wall-mounted monitor, and is large enough to accommodate an instructor, a standardized patient, and approximately 8 students.
CSBL-1M also includes:
- 3 dedicated High-Fidelity Simulation suites, which can be equipped with a variety of adult, pediatric and obstetrical patient simulators, along with high definition recording and debriefing capabilities.
- The Harvey Room with a Harvey® The Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator used to teach cardiac assessment skills.
